There are four crucial questions you should be asking. The detailed answers are found in the four modules of this etool. Self-Assessment Tool - Part three of the Safety and Health Management System, Doing a Safety and Health Check-up, contains the self-assessment checklist.

The Self-assessment Questionnaire will be utilized by the VPP CX to assist organizations in previewing their status for pursuing VPP recognition. It is the 25 question basic VPP Element questionnaire; it serves to orient the site Safety personnel to the VPP Element structure. Sites can access this questionnaire through the VPP CX portal or through OSHA's web site. The tool has a "report" function that allows the site to get immediate results upon completing the questionnaire. This tool is "stand-alone." The results do not roll up to a central database.

Other OSHA eTools

The eTools are "stand-alone," interactive, Web-based training tools on occupational safety and health topics. They are highly illustrated and utilize graphical menus. Some also use expert system modules, which enable the user to answer questions, and receive reliable advice on how OSHA regulations apply to their work site.

NOTE:  The links/attachments found in the box to the right include the eVPP Tool link, Samples for Union Commitment Letters (provides ideas on how to develop the letter), NASA Contractor Guide (this is an example of how one federal agency got their hands around the contractor safety issue), and a selection of some "Commercial Off the Shelf Tools" that provide sites with a a choice of products that give the site the capability to conduct self assessments of their existing Safety and Health Management Systems under the framework of VPP elements.
